Cézanne and the past

The exhibition will display some one hundred of Cézanne’s works, including numerous compositions which the master drew based on his studies of works by the old masters.

The works at the Budapest exhibition showcasing a unique perspective of Cézanne’s oeuvre have been loaned from some 40 collections by museums such as The J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée du Louvre in Paris, the Kunsthaus in Zurich, London’s National Gallery, the British Museum and the Tate Modern, the Uffizi in Florence, the Albertina in Vienna, the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Washington National Gallery of Art, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, as well as the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as from several important private collections (in Basel, London, Zurich, Frankfurt and Rio de Janeiro).
