Catalogues of the Ferenczy and Markó Exhibitions of the Hungarian National Gallery (MNG) were awarded the Opus Mirabile Prize.

The Opus Mirabile Prizes for last year’s best art history monograph, essays and exhibition catalogues were given at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) on Friday evening.

 

The Opus Mirabile established by the Art Historian Committee of MTA 18 years ago, was obtained by the András Ferkai’s monograph (Farkas Molnár), by János Jernyei Kiss’ monograph (A Delicious Allegory).

Among the works of joint authorship 2 prizes were given to the publications of the National Gallery: the catalogue the exhibition The Collective Exhibition of Károly Ferenczy (1862–1917) was edited by curators Judit Boros and Edit Plesznivy, the catalogue of the Károly Markó and His Circle: From Myth to Image was edited by Gábor Bellák, Zoltán Dragon and Orsolya Hessky. In the same category another publication was awarded: Mediaevel Church Architecture in Szatmár edited by Tibor Kollár. Among the book and exhibition reviews Enikő Buzási’s The Context – from the museum and exhibition practice was the winner, along with Noise by Gábor Endrődi and Eszter Gábor’s recension of the book The St. Stephen Basilica (written by Mária Kemény).
